Thanks for the information regarding non-SK cobalt rings! I knew there were other rings out there that had cobalt additives, but I didn’t discover much information on the other designers you mention.

You’re right, though, it’s just the Bioblue 27 process that is patented by Scott Kay. Thanks for politely correcting me!

The process to make all cobalt chrome rings is not patented by SK. He has a specific process that is patented for his rings which is called Bioblue 27, but there are many other designers of cobalt chrome rings.

I have worn a titanium ring for just shy of 10 years and love the metal. But, for my 10 year anniversary, I want to upgrade to a precious metal. Unfortunately, palladium rings are as expensive as gold rings (even though gold is almost triple the price on the market right now.) so I am also looking at cobalt.

My wife and I want to have a jeweler make my cobalt ring instead of buying it from SK or any other chain store. SK are twice as expensive as they need to be.

Good article and good choice on the metal.

Great job on your article. I think you covered everything beautifully. For the alternative metals I think cobalt is the best choice and Scott Kay at least let’s you know the break down of what is in his ring. Other companies will not give you nothing. That is why I also have chosen Scott Kay cobalt too. I think gold and platinum is great if you can afford them.
